n A number of trains were added to the La Rochelle-Rochefort schedule on 26 August of last year—the first step in a long-awaited plan to provide frequent, metro-like service between the two cities. Four more trains now run in each direction and two new stops have been built in Angoulins-sur-Mer and Saint-Laurent de la Prée – Fouras. Still more trains will be added in the autumn of 2008.
In the meantime, the line is already starting to feel a bit like a metropolitan tramway or Paris's regional express train: a recent business trip provided insight on subtleties such as differences in pricing between T.E.R. and S.N.C.F. tickets.
